Gnome with walking stick and basket
(designed by: Hermann Romeiss)
66 cm / 26"
It is incredible. I know this face. When I was child back in the fiftyth, there were a lot of refugees from Bohemia, that settled in our little village. One of the grandfathers looked exactly like this gnome.
Louis Romeiss started his Ceramic manufactory in 1888 in Graefenroda, Thuringa. His son Hermann, born in 1880, was the modeler. I know two other figures from Louis Romeiss with the same face. One is a gardener and the otherone is a hunter.
This gnome is not casted, the clay is pressed by hand into the molds. This is the older technique.
Gnome reading a book
(designed by: Prof. Paul Lothar Mueller)
34 cm / 13.4"
Heissner poduced several different versions of this gnome. This one looks very simular to the figure named "Gnome Doctor", which is designed by the famous gnome painter Prof. Paul Lothar Mueller
(1869 -1956) for Heissner before 1920. The gnome had several layers of old colours, which we burnt off in a ceramic oven at ~1650°F. Then the chap was painted completely in the old
tradional style that was usual at the century turn of 1900.
Gnome with a squirrel
43 cm / 17"
A few of the Heissner gnomes classics have names, like this one is named "friendship". Most of the gnomes only have numbers. Heissner poduced several different versions of this gnome. This one is pretty large and pretty rare. This Original is in collectors quality.
Gnome with little pig
Finest ceramic production
from original mother molds
by Eckardt & Mentz
43 cm / 17"
This gnome is a very special production. Last year I got the original mother molds from an old charming gnome, first produced for Eckardt & Mentz in Graefenroda, Thueringa in approx 1900, later produced by Griebel, Graefenrada. Working with original mother molds, the result of your work ist NOT a reproduction. It is an ORIGINAL. This gnome is not a cast, the clay is pressed in the same way like 1900 by hand into the molds and then the parts are slickered together with fluid clay and fired hard at 2100° F. The special painting gives the gnome his soul. Special Thanks to Frank Ullrich from the Thueringa Gnome Museum.
The gnome is numbered and signed. 1/10 KM
30" large Gnome !!!
extrem rare !!!!!!!!
This gnome is produced in an old style where the figure parts were not cast with liquid clay. You squeeze the clay into the mold with the fingers and a so called rubber lip. The expression of the face reminds on the modellers of Bernhard Blochs manufactory.
German Mythological Gnome

This extremly rare Gnome is a very professional and fine fayance ceramic from an unknown Bohemian artist. It is marked ( see photos). The figure is one of the highlights of our large collection. The gnome has a nibelung helmet in his hands, which may be used for plants, fruit, candy or as a wine cooler.
